Channel Letters

Custom channel letters for storefronts, building elevations, brand walls and commercial facades. Projects can be developed around front-lit, halo-lit, front-and-halo-lit or other approved constructions, with letter depth, face material, return material, illumination, mounting and wiring coordinated to the actual logo and installation surface.

LED Neon Signs

Flexible illuminated signs for brand logos, interior features, events, retail displays and decorative commercial applications. Engineering should confirm the graphic path, minimum practical bends, backing, mounting, color or RGB/RGBW control, power arrangement, cable exit, indoor or outdoor use and service access before production.

Light Boxes

Single-sided or double-sided illuminated sign boxes for storefronts, directories, retail communication and building identification. Selection is based on cabinet depth, face construction, frame, graphic method, internal reflection, LED layout, power distribution, mounting, maintenance access and whether the visible faces must remain balanced in brightness.

Cabinet Signs

Fabricated sign cabinets for wall-mounted, freestanding or project-specific illuminated applications. Cabinet signs can overlap with light boxes, but engineering starts from the physical enclosure, frame, face, access, mounting and electrical architecture. Large cabinets may require internal structure, segmentation, transport planning and coordinated installation interfaces.

Blade Signs

Projecting signs designed for side-view recognition where pedestrian or vehicle traffic approaches along a facade. Blade signs can be illuminated or non-illuminated and may use fabricated cabinets, dimensional graphics, metal, acrylic or combined structures. Storefront Signs

A storefront sign is an application category rather than one fixed construction. A storefront package may use channel letters, logos, light boxes, cabinet signs, blade signs or dimensional letters depending on facade material, sign zone, viewing distance, property criteria, available power and the brand standard that must be preserved.

Logo Signs

Custom logo signs translate brand artwork into a physical product using metal, acrylic, dimensional letters, illuminated structures, backers or combined assemblies. The manufacturing review checks logo proportion, stroke width, material, finish, light effect, depth, joins, wall relationship, cable routing and whether visual details remain practical at the required size.

Metal Letters

Non-illuminated or project-integrated metal letters for exterior facades, interior brand walls, reception areas and architectural identification. Material selection and finish direction depend on close-view appearance, outdoor exposure, edge quality, welding or forming method, mounting, cleaning, transport protection and the approved visual standard.

Acrylic Signs

Acrylic signs can use clear, opal, colored, layered, printed, fabricated or illuminated constructions. Engineering considers acrylic type, color, thickness, light transmission, diffusion, edge treatment, heat bending, bonding, drilling, thermal expansion, mounting and packaging. Polycarbonate or other plastics are validated separately when specified by the project.

Dimensional Letters

Three-dimensional letters and graphics provide depth without requiring a channel-letter construction. Materials can include metal, acrylic, foam, PVC or combined structures according to the intended finish, viewing distance, indoor or outdoor environment and mounting. Close-view projects require particular attention to edge finish, joints, spacing and installation alignment.

ADA Signs

ADA-related tactile and Braille sign products can be developed for room identification and regulated spaces when the applicable project requirements are supplied. Text, tactile characters, Braille, contrast, finish, mounting height and message data must follow the approved project standard; final local compliance and statutory acceptance require project-specific confirmation.

Wayfinding Signs

Directional signage for decision points, corridors, lobbies, parking areas, campuses and multi-building environments. Wayfinding products work best when product engineering follows an approved location and message system. Arrow direction, text hierarchy, contrast, mounting, changeable information and package identification should be controlled alongside the sign schedule.

Room Identification Signs

Room signs manage large quantities of names, numbers, functions and accessibility information. The manufacturing challenge is often data accuracy rather than fabrication alone. Room schedules, message proofing, product IDs, revisions, tactile requirements, finish standards and package grouping help prevent spelling, location and installation errors across large projects.

Directory Signs

Directory systems organize tenant, floor, department or destination information in one controlled product family. Fixed and replaceable information should be separated at the design stage so future updates do not require full replacement. Panel format, graphic method, mounting, illumination where applicable and update access are confirmed by project.

Monument Signs

Ground-mounted identification signs for commercial properties, campuses, hospitality, retail and development entrances. Product work can include fabricated cabinets, dimensional letters, illuminated faces and architectural cladding. Foundation, site engineering, final anchoring and local approvals remain with the responsible local team unless specifically included by contract.

Height, wind or seismic requirements, foundation, lifting, transport route and final erection must be coordinated with qualified local professionals.

Menu Boards

Menu boards can be illuminated or non-illuminated and may use replaceable graphics, panels or modular information structures. They are not automatically digital displays or content-management systems. Projects should define viewing distance, information update method, illumination, service access, mounting, cleaning requirements and whether the content changes seasonally.

Retail Display Signs

Retail display signage supports product zones, campaigns, counters, windows, pickup areas and in-store brand communication. Products may combine printed graphics, dimensional elements, acrylic, metal, light boxes or modular panels. The key decisions are update frequency, close-view finish, assembly method, packaging and consistency across stores or campaigns.

Exhibition Signs

Exhibition and event signage is engineered around fixed dates, multiple designs, transport, rapid assembly and possible reuse. Engineering focuses on approved drawings, material interfaces, finishes, mounting, electrical coordination, segmentation, packaging and handover information.

Complete sign systems combine multiple sign types through shared location, message, brand, material, revision, inspection, packaging and delivery data. The value is not simply ordering many products; it is keeping entrances, directories, wayfinding, room identification, storefront branding and other sign families synchronized through one controlled project structure.

Find the Right Sign for Your Project

If the product name is not yet clear, start from the job the sign must perform. Product selection becomes easier when the site and viewing conditions are defined first.

Start with the viewing task

Long-distance vehicle recognition usually points toward larger illuminated letters, cabinets, pylons or monuments. Side-view pedestrian recognition may favor blade signs. Close-view interior branding can use metal, acrylic, dimensional or illuminated logos. Directional decisions require wayfinding rather than a decorative logo product.

Confirm the installation environment

Indoor and outdoor products do not use the same assumptions. Outdoor work must consider rain paths, drainage, condensation, UV exposure, temperature, corrosion, wind, service access and the electrical system. Where an IP level is required, IP65, IP67 or IP68 configurations can be developed by project, but the rating must match the confirmed structure and test scope.

Define the mounting surface

A sign mounted to concrete, stone, glass, metal cladding, wood, drywall or a freestanding structure creates different requirements for anchors, stand-offs, raceways, backers, cable exits and service access. The factory can engineer product interfaces from approved site information; final site measurement, structural approval and field installation remain project responsibilities unless otherwise contracted.

Use the product name as a starting point, not the specification

Two signs sold under the same marketing name may use different materials, depths, electrical arrangements, mounting systems and packaging. For procurement, the real specification should identify sign type, dimensions, finish, illumination, electrical configuration, mounting, environment, sample requirement, QC, testing and packaging rather than relying on a generic product label.

The same brand can need very different sign products across a storefront, lobby, parking area and interior circulation path. Start from the operating environment, not a single product catalog.

Retail & Chain Stores

Retail programs may combine storefront channel letters, logo signs, blade signs, window or display signage, directories, pickup/return identification and interior brand elements. For multiple stores, locked brand elements such as logo proportion, color, finish and illumination should be separated from site-adaptive elements such as size, mounting, voltage, cable exit and property criteria.

Hotels & Hospitality

Hospitality projects often require a coordinated exterior and interior sign family: building identification, entrance signs, reception logos, directories, wayfinding, room numbers, amenity signs and service-area identification. Commercial properties may combine building logos, tenant signs, monument or pylon identification, parking direction, floor directories, service-area signs and replaceable tenant information. Tenant criteria can control sign zones, dimensions, depth, brightness, raceways, wiring concealment and fire-related documentation. Product engineering may need to account for heavy use, maintenance access, environmental exposure, fire or material requirements and local technical review. Exhibitions & Brand Events

Events and exhibitions prioritize a fixed date, multiple designs, transport efficiency and quick assembly. Products may include LED neon, illuminated logos, light boxes, dimensional graphics, hanging elements and modular display signage. Design IDs, pre-assembly, coded hardware, packing sequence and delivery cutoffs reduce errors when many unique pieces must be installed within a narrow venue access window.

What Can Be Customized in a Sign Project?

Custom signage is not one choice of color or size. A production-ready specification connects brand appearance, physical construction, illumination, installation, environment and the approval record.

Brand Geometry, Color and Finish

The first task is to preserve the visual identity without creating a product that cannot be fabricated or installed reliably. Azovo can work from logos, vector artwork, sketches, photographs, brand manuals and architectural information, then convert approved requirements into controlled product drawings.

Key decisions include logo proportion, character height, stroke width, spacing, corner radius, face and return colors, gloss level, texture direction, brushed or mirror orientation, paint or powder finish, printed graphics and the relationship between illuminated and non-illuminated surfaces. For close-view products, a small difference in edge treatment, joint location or metal grain can be more visible than a larger dimensional difference on a high-mounted exterior sign.

Color should be controlled through identified standards and physical approval where needed. A screen rendering is useful for layout, but it is not a reliable substitute for a material or finish sample when paint, metal reflection, acrylic transmission or illuminated color is critical. The project should state what the client approved: artwork, drawing, material, finish, lighting, message or sample. A visual approval does not automatically release the product for manufacturing if structure, BOM, quantity, electrical configuration or packaging is still open.

Materials, Dimensions and Product Structure

The physical sign must be designed around the real size, material behavior and manufacturing route. Product data should identify overall width, overall height, depth, character height, stroke width, panel size, frame size, mounting-hole pattern and the tolerances required by the project. A rendering proportion is not a production dimension.

Material selection may include stainless steel, aluminum, acrylic, PVC, foam, approved plastics and project-specific substrates. The decision depends on appearance, structural duty, outdoor exposure, light transmission, impact risk, processing method, weight, finish, fastening and transport. Acrylic, for example, should be considered together with type, color, thickness, diffusion, drilling, bonding, heat bending and thermal expansion rather than treated as a generic clear plastic.

Large products introduce additional constraints. Sheet size, internal frame, weight, welding, segmentation, transport limits, doorway or elevator access, container loading, lifting and site assembly can influence how a design is divided. A large sign is not simply a scaled-up small sign. The production structure must allow manufacturing, inspection, packaging, transportation and final installation without losing the approved visual relationship.

Illumination, Electrical and Control

Illuminated signs should be specified as an electrical system, not merely as “LED inside.” The engineering review considers sign geometry, depth, face material, LED model and layout, power supply, cable length, heat, service access, wall conditions and ambient lighting. These variables affect uniformity, brightness, visible hotspots, dark areas and long-term maintainability.

Projects can be developed around fixed colors, specified color temperatures, RGB or RGBW control and dimming where required. Electrical input should identify destination country, input voltage, frequency, plug or hardwired connection, indoor or outdoor location, circuit availability and power location. Low-voltage details may include output voltage, current, wire gauge, polarity, cable route and voltage-drop considerations.

The goal is not to publish one universal brightness or service-life number for every sign. Optical targets should be measured under defined project conditions when a project requires them. For illuminated products, Azovo supports 100% lighting checks and 72-hour aging as applicable controls, with additional brightness, color-temperature, electrical or other tests used according to product and project requirements.

Mounting, Environment and Service Access

A sign is complete only when the product interface is compatible with the site. The factory specification should define the mounting concept, backer or raceway where applicable, stud or bracket locations, mounting holes, stand-off distance, cable exit, power-supply location, service access, installation template, accessory kit and any segmentation or field connection required for transport.

Outdoor projects need more than surface sealing. Water entry paths, drainage, drip edges, condensation, ventilation, UV exposure, temperature, corrosion, salt exposure, dust, wind and maintenance access may affect material and structure. Azovo can develop IP65, IP67 or IP68 configurations according to the confirmed product boundary, environment and test scope; these ratings are project-specific and are not default claims for every outdoor product.

Site survey, local permits, final anchoring, foundations, field hardwiring, lifting and construction safety generally remain with the client and qualified local professionals unless a contract assigns a different scope. Good product engineering makes those interfaces clear before production instead of leaving the installer to resolve missing information after delivery.

From Brand Files to Production-Ready Signage

A custom sign should move through controlled technical decisions before it reaches the production floor. Each step reduces a different source of purchasing and installation risk.

1. Artwork & Project Input

The starting package can include vector artwork, logos, photographs, brand standards, architectural drawings, sign schedules, site dimensions, wall information, power conditions and required dates. Missing information is recorded as an RFI instead of being silently assumed. A rough concept can start a review, but it is not treated as a fabrication instruction.

2. Design Development

Design development organizes proportion, message, visible surfaces, material direction, lighting concept and site relationship. Renderings help the team compare options and communicate appearance, but the rendering status remains separate from approved production data. Any visual adaptation to a logo, stroke or spacing should be submitted for approval rather than changed on the factory floor.

3. DFM & Engineering Review

Engineering checks whether the design can be cut, formed, welded, bonded, illuminated, packaged, transported and installed at the requested size. The review addresses structure, electrical configuration, mounting interfaces, segmentation, access and potential manufacturing risks. Complex projects may generate formal technical questions before a final shop drawing can be issued.

4. Shop Drawings & BOM

Controlled shop drawings define product identity, dimensions, materials, finishes, illumination, electrical configuration, structure, mounting and interfaces. The BOM converts those requirements into material and component references. Drawing number, revision and approval status are essential because bulk production should never rely on an old chat attachment or an uncontrolled local file.

5. Sample or First Article

Where risk justifies physical validation, the project can use a material sample, finish sample, lighting sample, partial structure, full mock-up or first article. The approval record should state exactly what the sample proves. A small finish chip does not approve a large structure, and one sign type does not automatically approve every product in a multi-sign project.

6. Formal Production Release

Production release occurs only after the applicable drawings, materials, sample requirements, quantity, commercial conditions and manufacturing data are ready. A client saying “the logo looks good” is not the same as releasing a complete production package. Changes after release are reviewed for impact on completed work, materials, labels, packaging and schedule before implementation.

Validate the Product Before Bulk Production

Different samples answer different questions. The lowest-cost sample that resolves the real risk is usually more useful than making a full product too early.

Material Sample

Use a material sample when the key decision is material identity, thickness, texture, transparency, diffusion or surface behavior. It is useful before a complete sign is engineered, but it does not approve the final structure, illumination, mounting or full-scale visual effect. Material code, supplier or lot information should be linked when the project requires traceability.

Color & Finish Sample

A color or finish sample is appropriate when paint, powder coat, brushed direction, mirror reflection, plating appearance or acrylic color is the main uncertainty. Approval should identify the finish code and viewing conditions where relevant. The sample can become a reference for first-article and batch comparison, especially in multi-store programs where finish consistency matters.

Lighting or Partial-Structure Sample

A lighting sample or partial structure can verify diffusion, edge brightness, LED spacing, halo behavior, stand-off relationship, connection details or a difficult fabrication feature without building the entire product. This is useful when the project has a high technical risk concentrated in one area. The approved scope must be written so the sample is not mistaken for full-product approval.

Full Mock-up

A full mock-up is used when appearance, material, lighting, structure and installation relationship need to be evaluated together. It can be particularly useful for premium interiors, unusual logo geometry, architectural interfaces or a new product structure. A mock-up may expose design issues that are invisible in a rendering, such as visible joints, cable routes, glare, service access or mounting conflicts.

First Article

The first article validates a product made under the intended production conditions before the remaining quantity is released. It should be checked against the current drawing, BOM, approved sample and project QC criteria. For multi-factory or high-volume work, first-article control is also used to confirm that the correct factory, process, material and quality standards have been transferred into the production route.

How Azovo Plans Manufacturing Across Product Families

The manufacturing question is not simply “how many pieces per month.” A reliable plan connects sign type, process route, factory capability, approvals, bottlenecks and delivery waves.

Product and Process Allocation

Each project is reviewed against product family, size, quantity, material, finish, illumination, electrical work, test requirements, required date, packaging and shipping plan. Those inputs determine whether the work is better kept in one factory or divided between a lead factory and supporting facilities.

A single-factory route is often preferable when one product family dominates, finish consistency is critical and the required processes are concentrated in one location. Multi-factory production becomes useful when the product mix is broader, quantities are larger, different processes require different resources or rollout waves allow work to be divided by sign type or location.

The key rule is controlled allocation. Six facilities do not mean six interchangeable factories. Any transfer of work should carry the current drawings, sample references, materials, tooling, open issues and quality records. If a product changes factory or process after approval, a new first-article or equivalent validation may be required before continuing.

Controlled Multi-Factory Production

Large programs can only use multiple facilities safely when every production location works from the same approved information. Azovo coordinates factory codes, project drawings, BOMs, material and color standards, approved samples, work orders, QC checks and packaging instructions across the manufacturing network.

Cross-factory consistency can require a master sample, paint formula, powder code, metal-finish direction, acrylic code, LED model and color-temperature reference. Product identity and revision control must remain visible through processing and transfer. When work moves between facilities, transfer lists and inspection records identify what has already been completed and what remains open.

Final assembly, testing, accessories, packaging and shipment responsibility must be assigned rather than assumed. A lead factory or designated final facility coordinates the release so a product fabricated through several processes still reaches the client as one complete, traceable shipment.

Capacity Is Measured Against the Product Mix

Azovo records combined monthly manufacturing capacity of approximately 20,000 pieces across six production facilities and 20 production lines. That number is useful for company-scale qualification, but it is not a universal capacity for any single product.

A batch of small room signs uses different equipment and labor from large fabricated pylons, mirror-finish logos or complex illuminated channel letters. Capacity planning therefore considers design count, dimensions, material, process, finish, electrical work, testing, packaging, first-article requirements and delivery waves. Bottleneck operations can determine the real schedule even when other areas have available labor.

For enterprise procurement, the useful output is a project capacity plan: which products run where, what the bottleneck process is, when first articles are released, how many waves are required and what recovery options exist if a material, machine or logistics route changes.

Equipment Must Be Tied to a Manufacturing Task

Equipment lists are useful only when they explain what the machines actually do for the product. Manufacturing may involve laser cutting, CNC routing, forming, bending, welding, grinding, polishing, painting, powder coating, printing, acrylic processing, electrical assembly and testing, depending on the sign type.

100% Lighting Check

Illuminated products support 100% lighting checks to identify non-lighting areas, flicker, dark zones, hotspots, color differences, controller issues, power problems or connection faults. The inspection is a functional screen, not a universal brightness certification. Where quantitative optical criteria are specified, measurement conditions and acceptance ranges should be defined by project.

72-Hour Aging

A 72-hour aging process can be used to observe LEDs, power supplies, connectors, wiring, heat, flicker, controls and early failures before shipment. Useful records include start and end time, product IDs, conditions, observations, failures, corrective actions and final result. Aging is meaningful when it is linked to actual product identity and release status.

Outdoor & Project-Specific Tests

Outdoor and higher-risk projects may call for water-resistance, electrical, grounding, brightness, color-temperature, salt-spray, adhesion, temperature or other testing. IP65, IP67 or IP68 configurations are available by project when the product boundary and test scope support the rating. Not every product receives every test, and a component certificate does not automatically certify the finished sign.

Packaging & Shipment Release

Quality control continues after the sign itself is finished.
